All The Feels

Last season, thanks to all of you, Boreal Mountain, California, and Woodward Tahoe gave away more than $30,000 to our favorite non-profit organizations as part of the Play Forever Fridays (Formerly Feel Good Fridays). With these funds, our community organizations have been able to do what they do best –  from new jumps at the Truckee Bike Park, to supporting athletes at High Fives Foundation, going pink with Boarding 4 Breast Cancer, finding homes for adoptable dogs and cats with the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, and mentoring local youth through The Chill Foundation. We are so proud of everything we've accomplished together, and we couldn't do it without your lift ticket purchases!

Play Forever Fridays x High FivesAbout High Fives Foundation

The High Fives Foundation is a national 501.C.3 non-profit organization based in Truckee, CA.  Serving athletes living with a life-altering injury such as a spinal cord or traumatic brain injury.  Roy Tuscany, co-founder of the organization, was training to to become a professional skier when he was injured and diagnosed with a burst fracture of his t-12 vertebrae, compromising 45% of the spinal cord.  The injury rendered his lower body paralyzed and he was told he would never walk or ski again.  With the help of strong, positive personalities, Roy stepped back into skis for the first time, only two years after his accident.  Roy received financial support from local skiers, community members and his friends to cover the significant medical and rehabilitation expenses not covered by his insurance plan.  He was overwhelmed by the community support he received, inspiring him to pay it forward and to start the High Fives Foundation in 2009 to help others facing similar circumstances.  The High Fives Foundation promotes a positive outlook, motivation to work towards a personal goal, and provides emotional support while "High Fiving" an athlete through the recovery process.
